Polls open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at 22 voting centers in Taylor County

Tuesday is Election Day across the nation, with Americans choosing either to keep Republican Donald Trump as our 45th president or put Democrat Joe Biden in the White House as No. 46.

The end may be delayed, however, depending on quickly votes are tabulated.

Almost 40,000 voted early in Taylor County.

There are, of course, many more races to decide, from Washington, D.C., to local school boards.

Polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. in Taylor and other Abilene-area counties.

There are 22 voting centers in Taylor County. You can vote at any location.

The drop-off location for voters with ballots mailed to them is the Taylor County elections office, 400 Oak St., Suite 101.

Ballots can be hand delivered until 7 p.m.

Voters must present a photo ID and sign a roster. Ballots cannot be delivered by someone other than the voter.

Elections Administrator Freda Ragan said mail ballots first were sent per request of voters Sept. 23. Ballots came back within the first two to three days, she said.

As of Saturday, 706 requests had been delivered in person. Others were returned by mail.
